We got the idea for Poppy when we were walking along the streets of Copenhagen last spring and discovered a very large bed with the most beautiful poppies in it. We both agreed that the poppy is one of the most beautiful flowers there is and we wanted to make a jacket with a big, beautiful Poppy on the back :) Poppy is knitted in the most beautiful silk and mohair yarns from Knitting for Olive.

The jacket is knitted from the top down with raglan increases. The neckline is shaped by knitting reverse rows (German Short Rows (GSR)). When the yoke with the raglan increases is finished, the cardigan is divided into sleeves and body, which are knitted separately. This way you can easily adjust the lengths if desired. Long rib bands are knitted on the sleeves. The yokes are knitted at the same time as the rest of the body. The entire cardigan is knitted with one thread of Pure Silk together with one thread of Soft Silk Mohair, Knitting for Olive.

About the embroidery:

The poppy on the back is easy to embroider. Only one type of stitch is used, the backstitch. We first embroider the outline around the figure,

Then we fill in the colors inside (fill stitch). In some places on the poppy, the colors should overlap to create a graduated transition.

How to do this is well explained in the recipe.

The fill stitches should be as close as possible to avoid the background color showing through. They can be overlapped to your advantage.

It's nice to vary the length of these stitches.
