A charming little rump with 3 different embroideries in the same pattern! A lion, a bear and a monkey. Knitted in Babywool Lanett from Sandnes Garn.

About the embroideries:

The motif is embroidered with only one type of stitch, backstitch. Follow the drawings in the pattern.

We first embroider the outline around the shapes, then we fill in with colors inside (fill stitches).

The fill stitches should be as close as possible to avoid the background color showing through. They can be overlapped to your advantage.

It's nice to vary the length of these stitches.

NB! The look will be most beautiful if you let the stitches follow the curves of the shapes.

Sizes:

Sizes: 3 months ( 6 months) 1 year ( 2 years)

Neck width: 48 ( 53) 57 ( 60) cm

Total length without legs and suspenders: 25 ( 27) 31 ( 35) cm

The measurements given are not body measurements but measurements of the finished knitted sweater if the correct knitting tension is followed. The sizes are indicative.

Guiding pins:

Circular needle: 2 ½ and 3 mm

Double pointed needles: 2 ½ and 3 mm

Knitting strength:

27 stitches stockinette stitch on 3 mm needles = 10 cm

Yarn for butts:

Several of the colors we have used here have unfortunately been taken out of production by Sandnes Garn.

We have therefore gone through all the colors and found great alternatives.

The new colors are written in parentheses after the original colors where applicable:

3 months ( 6 months) 1 year ( 2 years)

2 ( 2) 3 ( 3) skeins

The Monkey: 2563 Chestnut (3161 Acorn)

The Bear: 2511 Almond

The Lion: 2335 Mustard Yellow (6841 Dusty Aqua)

There are many yarn alternatives for this knitting tension. If you choose a different yarn, it is important that you check the running length.

Yarn for embroidery:

The Monkey : Mustard Yellow 2335 (Light Acorn 3041)/Brown Pink 3544 (Light Copper Brown 3535)/Marzipan 2321/Powder Pink 4312 (Old Pink 4024)/Black 1099/Natural 1012

The Bear : Chestnut 2563 (Acorn 3161)/Brown Pink 3544 (Light Copper Brown 3535)/Mustard Yellow 2335 (Light Acorn 3041)/Black 1099/Natural 1012

Lion : Light Yellow 2014 (Light Acorn 3041)/Marzipan 2321/Powder Pink 4312 (Old Pink 4024)/Chestnut 2563 (Acorn 3161)/Natural 1012/Black 1099

A skein or small leftover yarn of each color for all sizes.

It is up to you whether you want to buy the embroidery thread we have used, or whether you want to use leftover yarn that you already have. NB! Remember that if you use leftover yarn, you must be sure that the yarn you embroider with is made of the same material as the yarn you knit the vest with. We therefore recommend embroidering a little on a sample patch and test washing it, if you are unsure about the yarn choice. Different quality of yarn can cause the garment to be damaged in the wash.
