Tic-Tac-Toe has a playful and exciting pattern that is easy and fun to knit. The sweater is knitted in Kos from Sandnes Garn, which makes it soft and cozy.
The body is knitted from the bottom up, while the sleeves are knitted from the top down. The shoulder stitches are sewn together with a slip stitch which gives an "invisible" seam that looks knitted. We have used Italian cast on and cast off, but you can cast on and cast off in the normal way if you prefer.
A small but important tip :): The sweater will look its best if the lightest color is used as the main color. The pattern will stand out much better then.
Sizes:
Sizes: 2 (4) 6 (8) 10 (12) years
Overall width: 64 (68) 72 (76) 80 (88) cm
Total length: 36 (40) 44 (48) 52 (54) cm
Sleeves: 25 (28) 31 (34) 36 (40) cm
The measurements given are not body measurements but measurements of the finished knitted sweater if the correct knitting tension is followed. The sizes are indicative.
Knitting strength:
20 stitches knitted pattern on needle 5 ½ mm = 10 cm
Guiding pins:
Circular needle: 4 ½ and 5 ½ mm (40 and 60 cm)
Double pointed needles: 4 ½ mm. On the smallest sizes you will also need 5 ½ mm.
If, like us, you cast on with Italian cast on, you need a thinner needle, e.g. 3 1/2 mm, on the actual cast on round.
Sample note:
Yes - it's boring!, BUT since the sweater is knitted with two colors in the pattern/structure, most of us knit tighter than we do with stockinette stitch. It is therefore extra important to ensure that the sweater gets the correct measurements. It is more boring to end up with a sweater that doesn't fit :) Find out how many stitches you have in 10 cm. If you have more stitches than stated in the pattern, you need to change to thicker needles, and vice versa.
