A sweet little character. Perhaps she could step straight into a Beatrix Potter story. Perhaps she reminds you of an old children’s book. Perhaps she simply makes you happy. Either way: you can make her yourself. With your own hands. On a cloth napkin, a dress, an apron. Where there was once a stain – now: a small piece of art.

About the embroidery: The motif is stitched using only one type of stitch, the backstitch. Follow the diagrams in the pattern. First, we embroider the outlines of the figures, then we fill in the colors inside (satin filling stitches). The filling stitches should be as dense as possible to prevent the background color from showing through. They may overlap each other. It is good to vary the length of these stitches. NOTE! The result looks best when you let the stitches follow the curves of the shapes – this brings the figures to life. Use many stitches, both small and large.

Materials list – in addition to the pattern you will need:

• A sharp needle
• A grey pencil
• An embroidery hoop with a diameter of at least 15 cm)
• Water-soluble interfacing
• Embroidery thread: You can choose whether to use Mouliné (DMC) or Eco Vita (DMC). The pattern includes colour codes for both.
